Framework

The brand draws its conceptual framework from the cinematic precision of Akira Kurosawa. Like Kurosawa’s use of natural elements, deliberate pacing, and one-take sequences, Inazuma’s identity translates movement and intensity into a visual and experiential system.

Key design elements include:

  • Logomark: A diamond-shaped “I” paired with a bold “Z” evoking potential energy and precision, like a match ready to spark

  • Color palette: Deep violet and muted tones convey intensity, elegance, and historical gravitas

  • Photography: silver-gelatin grain, high-contrast lighting, and motion capture impact, ritual and the artistry of movement

  • Cultural touchpoints: Guerilla-style marketing for events, curated screenings, and a playful lizard mascot introduce personality while reinforcing focus and energy

Together, these elements form a system that balances discipline and expression, guiding the audience through both the physical and cultural dimensions of the brand.

Overview

Inazuma Arts— “Inazuma,” meaning lighting in Japanese— is a conceptual fitness club that merges martial arts, alternative movement practices, and a strong sense of community. Located in Deptford, London, the project reframes training as both ritual and artistic expression, offering athletes and high performers a space that balances intensity with sophistication.

The brand needed to capture the discipline of martial arts, the dynamism of experimental movement, and the expectations of a design-conscious audience, creating an identity that feels focused, expressive, and culturally resonant.

Result

The final identity positions Inazuma Arts as a distinct alternative in fitness and wellness where training is ritual, movement is art, and community is central. Every touchpoint, from visual language to cultural programming, communicates precision, intensity, and creative expression.

By integrating cinematic reference, tactile identity, and thoughtful storytelling, the brand captures not only the physicality of martial arts but also the mindset and spirit of a strong, design-conscious athlete.
